Chase Makai, originally from Wallsend, New South Wales, Australia, and currently based out of San
Diego, CA has been touring extensively since 2011 playing guitar in the band Medicine for the People
(aka “Nahko & Medicine for the People”). On select special engagements he will play Chase Makai
Solo sets featuring original music and most all shows will have special guest appearances from
members of the Medicine Tribe.
Chase's musical path began in Australia when he picked up the acoustic guitar at age 12. He was
located in Australia for 20 years before moving to Hawaii. In Hawaii, Chase met Nahko Bear, where
the two bonded over a mutual love for surfing, skating, and of course music. Makai went on to join
Nahko's project Medicine for the People with which he saw success and a quick rise on the
international stage. While not on the road with Medicine, Chase can be found appearing with The
Chase Makai Band in which he continues to grow and explore his own voice as a musician. Chase's
sound on the 12 string acoustic guitar is undeniable. As his own musical identity grows, so does his
